This is good news for the people in Delhi and then can now enjoy Wi-Fi internet in Khan market – Yes Free Wi-Fi Zone in Delhi launched in Khan Market and Connaught Place will follow soon in the same soup.
Now Khan Market in Delhi is a Free Wi-Fi zone and similar services for Free Wi-Fi Services will also setup in Connaught Place. This Project has been undertaken by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) along with carriers Vodafone India and Tata Docomo.
But the Free Wi-Fi zone area setup in Khan Market does not provide you a offer with free unlimited access to the users. They can only avail of it at no cost for the first 20 minutes after which customers can purchase additional data online or through a retail store vending top-ups. Tata Docomo has revealed the price to be Rs 20 for 40 minutes of usage.
If you need more time than that, it’ll cost you Rs 30 and Rs 90 for 60 minutes and 100 minutes, in that order. Those who wish to take advantage of the free Wi-Fi zone will be required to submit their mobile number and email ID. They will then get a one-time password which will permit them to connect to the web.
The Economic Times mentions the project’s head, O P Mishra, as saying that it has been going smoothly so far. But there’s a small hiccup in setting up cables and transmission wires for the Wi-Fi hotspot in Connaught Place. The equipment is presently being moved so they travel through the 1.2km utility tunnel in the area for aesthetic reasons.
Tata Docomo is already delivering similar Wi-Fi services in several other locations including the Delhi Domestic and T3 International Airport, Feroz Shah Kotla Cricket Stadium and others. Connaught Place is expected to be treated to the same free Wi-Fi zone as Khan Market by the end of August 2014.
How You can Activate Your Free Wi-Fi zone in Delhi?
The visitors can avail the facility by filling in details such as e-mail ID and mobile number. After that, a one-time password (OTP) will be received to connect to the Internet.
After the free usage time is exhausted, the user will have to do a recharge using scratch cards which will be available at various shops in the area.
Do We Need a Free Wi-Fi Zone to be chargeable?
There are so many things to be consider here but I would like put a thinking cap and say if I have a 2G and 3G service on my mobile or a smartphone device then why I would need it?
There can be possibility you are not getting proper internet coverage in a location this facility is handy in those cases.
But I don’t thing duration mechanism is been encouragement for the people who are getting attracted towards this Free Wi-Fi Zone in Delhi. Data usage limit will be much better options and I do agree we should set up limited data usages plans so that people don’t miss use these services.
I would also need your feedback on this what do you thing about this Services – No doubts its great services to have but plans are demoralizing to me… what do you say ?
